/about me

Aretta Baldon is an Atlanta-based photographer and storyteller whose work explores legacy, identity, and the sacred intersections of community and place. A graduate of Spelman College with a background in mathematics and nearly 20 years in corporate marketing and media research, Aretta brings a rare blend of analytical precision and creative intuition to her visual work.

Her lens is drawn to the eyes—portals to story, struggle, and spirit. Whether capturing the proud gaze of a legacy resident or the hopeful embrace of new parents, her work centers resilience, beauty, and memory in everyday life. Her photographic style blends fine art and documentary traditions, with roots in Atlanta’s historic Westside and travels across Mexico, Tobago, Jamaica, and beyond.

Aretta’s work has appeared in community classrooms and national platforms alike. She’s a featured professional in the Black Girl MATHgic box and an active creative partner with Spelman College and Westside Future Fund. She also served two terms on the Atlanta Board of Education, championing equity and neighborhood schools. Her portraits, landscapes, and photo essays reflect deep respect for people and the environments that shape them.
